Why I created a silk line: The journey from makeup artist to luxury brand founder
For as long as I can remember, beauty has been my passion. At the age of 16, I embarked on a journey that led me to work as a makeup artist with some of the most renowned names in the fashion industry. From backstage at Fashion Weeks to editorial shoots for Vogue, Numéro, Elle, and Vanity Fair, I spent years perfecting the art of enhancing natural beauty. But along the way, I discovered that true beauty isn’t just about the right foundation or the perfect lipstick—it’s deeply connected to self-care, well-being, and, most importantly, restorative sleep.
The Beauty Secret That Changed Everything
As a makeup artist, I worked with models who constantly battled skin irritation, dehydration, and breakouts due to the demands of heavy makeup, long hours, and frequent travel. I personally struggled with sensitive skin and rosacea, trying every skincare product and treatment available. Nothing seemed to provide a lasting solution.
That changed when, during a trip to Southeast Asia, I discovered the beauty benefits of silk. Intrigued, I decided to try sleeping on a silk pillowcase, and from the very first night, I noticed a difference. My skin was calmer, with no creases or irritation in the morning. My hair remained smooth and clean, requiring less styling. Even my boyfriend, who had struggled with hair loss, saw an improvement—there was no hair left on his pillow.
Silk quickly became an essential part of my beauty and wellness routine. I took my silk pillowcase with me everywhere, from fashion shoots to hotel rooms around the world. But when I lost my first silk pillowcase, I realized how difficult it was to find a high-quality silk pillowcase in Europe—one that combined the perfect density, purity, and craftsmanship.
That was the moment I knew I had to create something better.

My journey to creating By Dariia Day wasn’t just about luxury—it was about bringing the best silk for skin, hair, and sleep to those who, like me, wanted a natural way to enhance their beauty and well-being.
I spent years researching silk, understanding how momme weight, fiber purity, and craftsmanship define its quality. I partnered with the finest traditional silk manufacturers in China, where silk has been produced for over a thousand years. Through meticulous development, we created 25 momme, 100% pure mulberry silk, free from toxins and allergens—the ultimate fabric for skincare and sleep benefits.
But I wanted more than just premium fabric; I wanted ethical, family-driven craftsmanship. That’s why all By Dariia Day silk pieces are designed in Paris and handcrafted in Poland, where my family has over 25 years of experience in fine garment production. Every product is sewn with care, ensuring a flawless finish that embodies both luxury and longevity.
Today, By Dariia Day has expanded beyond silk pillowcases to include a full collection of silk bedding, sleep masks, loungewear, and accessories, all designed to enhance sleep quality and promote natural beauty.
